"HE HAS LOVED HIS TIME AT EDEN PARK AND WE'RE SO GRATEFUL FOR HOW YOU HAVE INTEGRATED HIM INTO SCHOOL LIFE. YOU HAVE WORKED SO HARD TO CHANNEL HIS ENERGIES INTO A LOVE OF LEARNING." (SCHOOL REPORT RETURN, 2019)

At Eden Park we provide a broad and exciting range of activities in Physical Education that appeal to all children.  Children follow a whole school approach, learning sports together at an age-appropriate level.  These sports themes result in termly sports festivals ensuring our children benefit from competitive sport.

In the Foundation Stage, physical development is one of the prime areas of learning. We provide regular opportunities to develop children’s physical development through various adult led and child-initiated activities. Activities are provided both inside and outside of the classroom.

In Key Stage 1 we enhance PE session with activities that encourage co-ordination, teamwork and independence.  By Key Stage 2 we still offer the opportunity for every child to participate in a wide range of sports but at a more complex level. In both key stages, we follow a biannual rolling model.

Some of our sport tuition is supported by Torquay United Football Club, who provide professional assistants who teach alongside our staff to ensure high quality provision.

To help our sport be competitive as possible, classes are divided into one of four "sports houses" each heading up by a local sports star. The houses compete across the year. The houses are currently:

David Hill (a Paralympian swimmer and triathlete from Exeter)

Giselle Ansley MBE (a Hockey Olympic gold medallist from Kingsbridge)

Amara Carr (a cricketer for Middlesex from Plymouth)

Dan Gosling (a premiership professional footballer who attended Eden Park)

As well as weekly sports, the children are supported in physical development through the use of outside play spaces and climbing frames, a zoned playground, residentials, after school clubs and the use of visiting professionals such as an annual cycling programme.

"ALL THE INSTRUCTORS SAID HOW GOOD THE CHILDREN HAVE BEEN THIS WEEK. THEIR BEHAVIOUR HAS BEEN EXEMPLARY AND THEY ARE A CREDIT TO THE SCHOOL." (VISITING SPORTS PROFESSIONAL, 2021)
