"I am Very pleased with progress my son has made and how the school uses music and the arts and outdoors to learn." (Parent Survey, 2017.)
We believe that performance is essential in building confidence and self-esteem in our children and for this reason every child in the school from Reception to Year 6 will have a part in a performance every year. With this in mind, and a stage that is permanently available with microphones, scenery flats and stage lights, our children are able to grow in confidence, pride, develop teamwork and revel in the joy of performance. Performances can take the form of plays, musicals, dance shows, instrument renditions and concerts.
Whole class tuition takes place across all year groups at Eden Park in a dedicated music suite, with the children having the opportunity to play percussion instruments, xylophones, electric keyboards, ukuleles, and guitars as they progress through the music curriculum. It is also possible to pay for lessons with our visiting teachers currently for guitar, keyboard and drums and we can arrange private tuition for other instruments upon request.
An exciting singing assembly takes place each week with some live music as well as the chance to listen to music from all cultures. The school is also proud to have a large choir who regularly perform in the local community for charitable events, such as at care homes, singing at the harbour or at the “Brixham Hap’nin’.” The school take part in the Torbay Music Prom and the choir is part of our Stagestruck performing arts group which also has active dance and acting sections.
