"I think the homework amount is perfect and the home learning tasks are just great." (Parent Survey, 2018)
Home Learning plays an important role in supporting your child's learning and preparing them for their futures. Each phase of the school will share homework expectations via homework books or link books, the half termly curriculum summaries sent by phase leads and through paper copies sent home with children. Sometimes, tasks will use the internet to assist learning and children without this technology at home can complete these tasks at school.
Throughout the school, the most important learning that your child can undertake is to read every day, and establish a love of books that will stay with them forever. Being widely read is the base for all learning. Please encourage this in your child, through books borrowed from school. For stronger readers, the school uses “Accelerated reading,” supporting their independent reading.
Further details about homework specifics can be found in the policies section of this website.
We take pride in homework that the children do. We have a special homework assembly every half term, where children are rewarded with certificates. A visual homework chart is kept on the wall in each classroom and we also regularly display homework both in and out of classrooms, it often becoming part of our Learning Experience outcomes.
If you have any concerns around Home Learning please contact your child's Class Teacher and they will make time to answer your questions. Together we will help every child reach their true potential.
