Home Learning plays an important role in supporting your child's education. We believe it helps enrich their potential, and so, we are clear about our expectations.
Homework is provided through two online platforms: Tapestry for the Nurseries and Reception and Microsoft Teams for Years 1-6. This allows children to work from home using the internet and have responses to their work this way also. In addition, homework books will be provided for younger ages to record the work in. We also encourage and reward independent learning through our successful Graduate Scheme.
Throughout the school, the most important learning that your child can undertake is to read every day and establish a love of books that will stay with them forever. Being widely read is the base for all learning and so please encourage reading all of the time. There are two high quality libraries in the school that children can borrow books from as well as in class book corners. For stronger readers, the school uses Accelerated Reader, which supports their independent reading.
We take pride in homework that the children do. We regularly display homework both in and out of classrooms alongside class work. It can also become part of our Learning Enquiry parent outcomes. Graduates create presentations of their learning as part of the process.
We also realise that children are supported by their families to participate in wider learning at home such as clubs and societies, cooking, sports or charitable pursuits. We ask parents to send up photos of these events and post these regularly on our weekly newsletter.
If you have any concerns around Home Learning, please contact your child's Teacher in person or through the learning platforms and they will make time to answer your questions.
Together we will help every child reach their true potential.
"He has made lots of progress and really enjoys doing homework, reading at home and telling us lots about what he has been learning at school." (school report parent feedback, 2022)
