"I think the homework amount is perfect and the home learning tasks are just great." (Parent Survey, 2018)
Home Learning plays an important role in supporting your child's learning and preparing them for their futures. We believe it helps enrich their potential. Homework expectations are set out in the policy.
Homework is provided through two online platforms: "Tapestry" (Nurseries and Reception) and "MS Teams" (part of the Office Suite) for Year 1-6. This allows children to work from home using the Internet and have responses to their work this way also. In addition, homework books will be provided for younger ages to record the work in.
Throughout the school, the most important learning that your child can undertake is to read every day and establish a love of books that will stay with them forever. Being widely read is the base for all learning and so please encourage reading all of the time. There are two high quality libraries in the school that children can borrow books from as well as in class book corners. For stronger readers, the school uses “Accelerated Reader,” that supports their independent reading.
We take pride in homework that the children do. We have a special homework assembly every half term, where children are rewarded. A visual homework chart is kept on the wall in each classroom and we also regularly display homework both in and out of classrooms. It can also become part of our Learning Enquiry parent outcomes.
If you have any concerns around Home Learning please contact your child's Class Teacher in person or through the learning platforms and they will make time to answer your questions.
Together we will help every child reach their true potential.
